Knowle West Health Park will be adorned with knitting – when it is yarn-bombed at a special art day this month.
Staff at the Health Park are calling local people to help out by dropping in knitted squares of all sizes, pom noms and crochet to drape inside and outside the building on Monday 24 July.
Operations Manager Sue Cooke says the point of the exercise is to “brighten up the Health Park and give it a colourful lift”.
She explains: “We are going to be sewing a lot of knitted squares, so if people can get them to us before the day we can do more with them.
“It’s going to be a mad dash to put it all up on the day… We’re going to decorate from the inside out, including the front of the building, amphitheatre and lamp posts…”
The art day will include a range of activities including an exhibition of local works around the ‘measured mile’, weaving the railings and giant knitting as well as Walk and Draw and ukulele workshops.
Knitting should be dropped off at Knowle West Health Park in Downton Road by 9am on 24 July at the very latest and preferably before.
