A Knowle West primary school’s first firework display in 20 years went off with a bang – with huge community support.

The event at Greenfield-E-Act Academy featured a firework extravaganza staged by Sky Rascal Displays – which could be seen across the city.

Lashing rain didn’t stop local residents from across the area attending the packed show – with hoods and umbrellas the order of the night. Those who hadn’t made it to the school could view the fireworks from their windows which continued for nearly 15 minutes.

Teacher Stacey-lee Mundy who organised the display said: “Wow! What an amazing community event! I think the firework festival well and truly put Greenfield E-Act Academy on the map!

“Half of Bristol were treated. And it shows the dedication Greenfield staff have for our pupils and community. Can’t wait for next year…bigger and better!”

Headteacher Lakmini Harkus said: “The fireworks were absolutely incredible and really demonstrated what an amazing community we serve!”

The sizzling firework display lit up the skies in Knowle West and could also be seen across the city.
