New florist and event hire shop at Jarman’s

A new florist and event hire shop has recently opened in Knowle West – supplying everything from weddings and wakes to baby showers and birthday parties.

The enterprise is run by local residents and brother and sister team Lily and Denis O’Neill – who have taken over the premises which was formerly Jack’s Barber Shop at Jarman’s.

Lily who has been a florist for four years says: “I’ve been working from home for three years and needed more space. I know everybody and am quite local and some of my family live in Knowle, it’s quite central on this road…

“I do balloon hoops and arches, floral arrangements and we do 4ft light-up numbers and Mr and Mrs for weddings. We also do champagne walls which is a wooden cabinet filled with prosecco and glasses, and baby blocks for showers…”

They also provide sweet and popcorn carts for party hire as well as large sale boards which can be personalised for each event.

Lily says both floristry and event hire go hand in hand – so it makes sense to combine the two things in one business – with Denis helping with the deliveries and event hire side.

She says: “When you do weddings they can hire equipment as well and I incorporate my flowers into the designs such as the balloon hoops.”

Although a lot of the business is done online – Lily says having a shop front means people can pop in and discuss what they need too.

She adds: “I’m looking forward to meeting the locals and helping them out with their events.”
