New additions to Inns Court Community and Family Centre

A kitchen garden, softplay area and community café are exciting new facilities being developed at Inns Court Community and Family Centre (ICCFC).

Inns Court Kitchen Garden is a community growing project – supported to get off the ground by a number of partners. These include Boing! Softplay, Family Action FOOD Clubs and Knowle West Alliance as well as Learning Communities, South Bristol Children’s Centres and the Children’s Kitchen.

Simon Green from Family Action FOOD Clubs says: “The vision is to create a community space where people can come to learn about growing, wildlife, cooking and eating.

“Somewhere that can host events and gatherings in the coming months and is always on the lookout for support through volunteering and partnerships.”

The garden is managed by dedicated volunteer Chris Boddington, who has worked with organisations to source resources from seeds and compost to tools and trees – and supports volunteering groups which include Man Alive and students from City of Bristol College.

Volunteers have created beds for planting at the Inns Court Kitchen Garden.

Boing! Softplay Family Centre and café  – aimed at nought to fives and their parents/carers – is due to open at Inns Court this September.

The company has been running a softplay centre in Lockleaze for the past ten years – and is now expanding to South Bristol.

CEO of Boing! Bristol CIC and Development Worker for ICCFC, Richard Reddrop, says: “Boing! will be a friendly and safe place for children to run around and play whilst their parents/carers have some time to themselves, meet with friends and family, access support and/or join their children in the softplay!…”

Alongside, but separate to Boing!,ICCFC will also be running a community cafe for residents of all ages.
