The community farm on the Northern Slopes started nine years ago – when TV chef and campaigner Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall helped six local families set up a small-holding on disused land. This was featured in the River Cottage TV programme.
The farm is run as a collective and lets the public have a peek at its work on certain days of the year.
Spokesperson Ramona Andrews says: “The farm is going strong with a solid group of committed local families who all muck in to make the farm a very special place. The families will be welcoming visitors on the open day with childrens’ activities, BBQ, a plant sale, soup and cakes.
“Come and see the pigs, sheep, pygmy goats, chickens and ducks, have a cuppa and hang out in this beautiful spot on the Northern Slopes….”
The open days will run from 11am-4pm on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July at the farm in Beckington Walk, BS3 5EA. For updates about the days and future events join the ‘Friends of Bramble Farm’ group on Facebook.
