The highly anticipated community festival is back with a live event on October 1 – after an absence of two years.

A popular date on the local calendar, this year’s offering will once again return to Filwood Community Centre and the Broadway from 12pm and into the evening. It was last there in 2019 – with an online presence due to the pandemic in 2020.

Knowle West Fest was first launched in 2015 to celebrate different cultures, ages and talent in the area – and to bring the community together.

It quickly grew in both size and popularity to become a much-loved fixture – attracting people from across the city and showcasing local creativity.

This year it’s being run by a committee from Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC), Filwood Community Centre and Knowle West Alliance – coordinated by KWMC, with funding from Filwood Fantastic.

Hosting stalls, activities, workshops and live music – the festival aims to appeal to all ages – with plenty of home grown talent.

Performers include Kala Chng, 3Culture and the Bristol Reggae Orchestra – ending with sets from DJ Bunjy and Gangster Steve.

Committee member Suzie Davison from Filwood Community Centre says: “This year’s festival really highlights what Knowle West has to offer and what a talented community we are!

“We have a jam-packed list of activities with something for everyone – puppet making, art workshops, yoga to name but a few – led by our fantastic locals. We even have SS Great Britain and We The Curious joining us all the way from the harbourside which are not to be missed!”
