Knowle West Children’s Centre has recently opened its third setting at the Old Caretaker’s House in the Health Park.

Deputy Head Matt Caldwell said following the success of the Centre at Inn’s Court they were keen to build what they had done and start to work with children and families in Glyn Vale.

He said: “The House will provide learning opportunities for two to four year olds and will also provide a range of family services and groups.

“We are pleased to be so close to the Health Park so that we can work even more closely with the amazing team that work there, and hopefully we can make an even stronger relationship.”

There are currently ten children at the new Knowle West Children’s Centre (KWCC) site which runs both morning and afternoon sessions from Monday to Thursday and can take up to 16 pupils in each.

Parents of children who started at the end of September are very enthusiastic about the new site.

Mum Dionne Blackmore (27) said her two-year-old daughter Tia “loved going there.”

She said: “She enjoys dancing and making music and there’s a learning journal so we can see what they’ve done and add things they’ve done at home…”

And Dad Jason Jones (38) said his son Henry (four) also enjoyed coming to the centre.

“He’s settled in well and it gives him other children to play with and things to do… He likes playing in the sandpit and play dough and he takes books home every night.”

Team Leader Ellyn Oddie said: “It’s a lovely working environment and we are really enjoying getting to know the families and children. I love the fact it’s a house – it’s like a home from home and I think it helps children feel more at ease because it’s more intimate and cosy.”

From January the House will also be hosting a breastfeeding group and baby massage sessions.
