Knitting for Knowle West

A local knitting group has been supporting residents to make items for people in need in the community – after receiving one of the Filwood Fantastic/Knowle West Alliance Grants.

Knit and Natter made up packs for would-be knitters at the end of last year – which were left in local secondhand shop re:store. Some items were also given to the Alliance to find homes for.

After a shout out on Facebook, we also had some other local knitters get involved. Resident Angela Toye was one of those who came forward.

She said: “I knit as a hobby and like doing things for charity.  I like to see other people enjoying and benefitting from what I make.”

We’re pleased to say all these items were wrapped before Christmas by students at The Park and delivered all over our community by volunteers to residents nominated by others.

We also donated a bag of baby items to the Connaught Community Hub which were given to mums and mums-to-be in their school community.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially Joan Roberts from Knit and Natter who worked really hard to get all those packs together!
