Happy and Active in Knowle West

dancingOlder residents will be coming together at Knowle West Health Park in October for a free event to showcase activities for the over 55s in the area.

Happy and Active in Knowle West is being jointly organised by the Health Park and Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC) as part of the annual Celebrating Age Festival (CAF).

The CAF theme this year is ” 100 Ways to Happiness”  and this event will include a range of stalls and taster activities connect older people with their local area – and help to combat social isolation.

Attendees will be able to take part in art and computer skills sessions, have a health check or try out Tai Chi or ear acupuncture.  The afternoon will also include a local walk, film screenings and a dance display – with free transport and afternoon tea provided.

Sue Cooke from Knowle West Health Park Company (KWHP) says: “This is our fourth event with KWMC and it promises to be as popular as ever. We are looking forward to welcoming the over 55s and letting them know what’s happening in the area to keep people physically active and involved in their community – which are key ways to happiness and tackling social isolation…”

The event takes place on Monday 3 October from 1-4pm at Knowle West Health Park in Downton Road.
