Residents in the Filwood ward are among eight Bristol communities to be offered free online My Wild City Workshops during March and April.
My Wild City is an Avon Wildlife Trust project to make eight hidden nature havens in the city – including the Northern Slopes – better for people and wildlife.
The project which partners with Bristol City Council is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and encourages people to explore green spaces on their doorsteps.
Other sites include Hengrove Mounds and Hawkfield Meadow, Stockwood Open Space and Dundry Slopes.
Before lockdown restrictions, Avon Wildlife Trust was running regular events on the Northern Slopes, including a Family Explorer Day in October.

It has lots of further outdoor activities planned for the spring and summer – but in the meantime, is also running online workshops which will be free for communities living near any of the havens.
Online workshops to ‘get you thinking in new ways’
My Wild City Community Engagement Officer Hannah Welsh says: “It has been a testing year for all of us, and I have really missed being able to get out to all of our amazing sites and run our usual events with you.
“These online workshops are designed to get you thinking in new ways about the green spaces on your doorstep.
“From wellbeing to wildlife gardening, and sun prints to learning about spring, they will help you discover more about the natural world in your neighbourhood.”

Workshops are held on Zoom and must be booked via eventbrite. The first two events are A Walk Through Springtime on 29 March from 6-7.30pm and Spring Trail for Families on 6 April from 10-1045am – both run by ecologist Matt Collis.

These are followed by Nature Connection for Wellbeing on 8 April from 10- 11.30am.
Helen adds: “It will be great to see some of you online at these events, hopefully there is something for everybody!”
Residents should book their places soon and use the discount code “MYWILDCITY” when booking through Eventbrite.
