Free complimentary leisure memberships for people living with Parkinson’s

Leisure operator SLM (Everyone Active) is offering free membership for people living with Parkinson’s.

This is available at the following facilities: Bristol South Swimming Pool, Easton Leisure Centre, Henbury Leisure Centre, Horfield Leisure Centre, Kingsdown Sports Centre and St Pauls Community Sports Centre.

Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently there is no cure. Estimates show around 145,000 people live with a Parkinson’s diagnosis in the UK in 2020.·

Being physically active when living with Parkinson’s is very important with research showing 2.5 hours of exercise a week can slow the progression of symptoms.· Exercise can help manage physical symptoms and other symptoms such as sleep problems, fatigue, mood and mental health.

Individuals can start their free membership through a new landing page www.everyoneactive.com/parkinsons by following the join online process. A join in-centre option is available for people who may need additional support.

Existing direct debit members will need to cancel their membership and complete their last month up front before they are able to complete the Parkinson’s Join Online process. Existing annual membership can start their Parkinson’s membership on expiry of their annual membership. No refunds will be processed.
