Find out more about South Bristol housing scheme

South Bristol communities are being invited to have their say this autumn on plans for the city’s largest housing regeneration scheme.

The project team are asking for feedback on proposals for two large-scale residential development sites at Hengrove Park and Hartcliffe Campus during the design and planning process.

A series of events running from 4 October to May next year will give communities an opportunity to have their say and find out more information about the project.

Bristol City Council allocated £1.8m in March to progress to the next stage of development, securing planning consent for the two sites which could deliver affordable homes alongside a new public park.

Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, said: “This is a landmark regeneration project for Bristol – not only because it could make a major contribution towards our commitment to build 2,000 homes a year by 2020 and beyond, but it marks a new approach for the city in master planning.

“We are committed to developing a high quality scheme including housing and open space in partnership with the local communities.”

The South Bristol Housing Zone is part of a government scheme to use redundant brownfield land for housing developments. The zone is made up of seven sites in the Filwood, Hengrove, Whitchurch Park and Windmill Hill wards. There are two phases for Hengrove; phase 1 includes the 261-homes Kier Living scheme while phase 2 includes land at Hengrove Park.
