Dates not finalised for new secondary schools
Opening dates have not been finalised for two new secondary schools given approval last spring for Hengrove and Temple Quarter.
Oasis South Bristol was supposed to open in September 2019, with six entry forms and an eventual total of 900 pupils and Oasis Temple Quarter in September 2018 – but no permanent site has yet been found for it.
Oasis Community Learning said: “We are determined that we provide our students with an exceptional learning environment from the very first day. To that end, we will only open a new school once a permanent site has been secured…
“As the site for Oasis Academy Temple Quarter has not yet been finalised with our Partners Bristol City Council (BCC) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (EFSA), we cannot currently confirm the Academy’s opening date. Considerable progress has been achieved on this project, and we anticipate making an announcement on this shortly.
“The academy in Hengrove will work closely with neighbouring Oasis Academy John Williams under our inspirational principal Victoria Boomer.
“Again, we are in discussions with our partners BCC and the ESFA to progress the academy in a timely way that will best serve our future students and the local community. We look forward to having an update for the local young people and community in the near future…”
