1. High Streets: Filwood Broadway
Bristol City Council announce: Architecture 00 have won a two-stage open competition to produce a High Street Delivery Plan and improvements at Filwood Broadway. Led by Bristol-based director Sarah Hollingworth and working with locally based teams including: George Lovesmith, Uninvited Guests, and Studio Mothership. They will be working closely with local business owners to co-design physical shopfront improvement works to shops on the East side of Filwood Broadway.
“The whole team are delighted to get the opportunity to support Bristol City Council, KWMC and the Knowle West community to realise this project. Not only excited to work locally in BS4, but also to explore the opportunity for a community-led high street in an area which has already demonstrated the potential of grassroots and culture-led regeneration.”
Now that Architecture 00 have been selected, they will be commencing the first phase of research with the local community in the coming weeks and following the delivery plan and design development this year, we expect the physical works to commence in Spring 2025.
Together with the wider regeneration and development schemes at Filwood Broadway, this project seeks to achieve the community vision to create a vibrant local centre at Filwood Broadway where people want to shop, meet, create, play and spend time.
