Celebrating a local hero. You may have seen Chris around Knowle West – he may have been running or maybe you’ve seen him in his sweatshirt with “Running Man Chris” on the back.
Christopher Copeland lives in Knowle West. Chris was 65 years old on 12 December. He has worked at Asda in Bedminster for 35 years (he walks or runs to work everyday from Knowle West).
55 years ago, aged 9, Chris was in hospital for 7 months. Chris had his spleen removed and ever since he has suffered with epilepsy and seizures.
Chris’s is hobby is completing marathons. He has 73 medals from the many different marathons he has completed. He has plans for at few more marathons in 2025 and beyond. This year he is booked to run: Newport, Bristol, Cardiff and The Great North run.
Chris was collecting for epilepsy charities this Christmas in Asda. Over the years he has raised a huge amount of money for different charities, over £30,000. His incredible efforts have been recognised by Queen Elizabeth and King Charles. You can read more about his achievements in this post on the Asda website here.
