Community fundraiser for Harry’s funeral costs

The community has come together to support the grieving family of 21-year-old Harry Bath from Inns Court who tragically lost his life after a motorbike crash near Ashton Gate.

The accident happened on 15 January on Winterstoke Road and Harry was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Leigh Badman has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for Harry’s funeral – and already raised £2,370 in just two days.

He says on the site: “I am sat here writing this with tears in my eyes as this is the last thing I thought I’d be doing. We are trying to raise as much as we can to give Harry the best send off we possibly can as times are hard at the best of times.

“Harry sadly passed away today after a brave fight after a accident in which he sadly lost. Harry was a lovely cheerful happy lad who had his whole life ahead of him, he would help anyone he could and had a heart of gold so I’m asking people to help him if they can.

“We would like to give him the best send off possible and take a bit of pressure off of his family, anything at all you can afford would be very helpful, every pound £ helps, thank you so much for reading this xx.”

Local people who donated have also sent messages of support, one read: “Thinking of all Harrys family and friends at this sad time. Thinking of you all – sending lots of love.”

And another: “So sad, taken far too young. Sending my love, Rest in peace Harry I know our granf will look after you up there! Xxx”

A third simply sums up the shock the community feels with the message: “No words.”

Tonight, family, friends and anyone who knew Harry are invited to meet at Riley’s Park at Inns Court at 6.30 pm to pay their respects and let balloons and lanterns off – with people asked to bring their own balloons.
