Community active travel grants available

Active travel grants are now available for community projects – including those that increase walking and cycling.

Up to £1,500 is available for community led active travel initiatives across Bristol – and up to £4,000 available for community led activities which increase walking and cycling on areas that include Hengrove Way/Airport Road, Filwood Greenway and Malago Greenway.

The Travelwest Bristol Communities team will support individual residents, community leaders, groups and organisations to “facilitate work which encourages walking, cycling and using public transport specifically in Bristol.”

Initiatives that have been funded in that past include a cycle instruction class where attendees learn to cycle and then choose to cycle regularly for journeys across the city and walking groups that improve the health of residents.

Travelwest says: “Bristol is home to some of the most vibrant communities in the country and we need your local knowledge to hear ideas that will improve health, reduce congestion, improve the air we breathe and save money as per the ‘One City Plan’ and ‘Climate Emergency Action Plan’…”

Deadline is 28 Feb 2022 and people can apply online by visiting: https://travelwest.info/for-communities
