Arrangements have been made for Bristol residents to pay their respects with a Proclamation event taking place on Sunday September 11 at 1pm on College Green.

This is the official declaration of the accession of the new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles 111. It will be delivered by the High Sheriff of Bristol and accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Mayor of Bristol and Bishop of Bristol.

The council has announced road closures in surrounding streets from 6am to 6pm. Those wishing to attend are advised to use public transport where possible. A full list of road closures are available on the Bristol City Council website.

The flag on City Hall will fly at half-mast and at civic buildings across the city during the period of mourning. There will be an exception between 11am on Saturday 10 September and 2pm on Sunday 11 September where they will be struck at full mast. This is to mark the official proclamation of the new monarch.

Flowers
