Bridge View Medical has just introduced an eConsult system for patients to access its services online during the Covid-19 pandemic – to reduce pressure on phone lines.
The practice which manages Marksbury Road Surgery as well as Malago and Southville launched the new system on 4 May.
Patients can use the service via the website and fill in a form with their details – the practice will then receive an email from the system.
Practice Manager Brent Stephen said the process was ” very easy to use”.
He told The Knowledge: ” We have to respond by 6:30pm the next working day but many eConsults will be dealt with on the day.
“Patients will be responded to by phone, by text or by e-mail. We hope that patients benefit from this new means of accessing us and the fact that activity is being taken away from the phones.”
He said the practice was in the process of “switching our call handling” so they could take advantage “of calls being queued in the cloud.”
He explained: “This should mean that everyone will be held in a queue and receive our messages rather than being disconnected when we are very busy. This new system will be in by the end of May.”
