Following the success of new Rainbow and Brownie groups at Connaught Oasis Community Hub – Girlguiding is on the lookout for more volunteers.
The 1st Connaught Rainbow (for girls aged 5 to 7) and Brownie (age 7-10) groups meet on Tuesday evenings and offer local girls “a safe space” where they can get involved with the community and grow in confidence.
The new groups were made possible thanks to a special fund given to Girlguiding as part of the Youth United network, on behalf of the Cabinet Office.
It was awarded to Girlguiding as it is a charity which works to engage young people in their local community and regularly involves girls in positive social action.
The funding is being used by Girlguiding to ensure as many young people as possible can benefit from the experiences that the charity offers.
Volunteer Carolyn Moore said: “…Every week, after a Rainbows meeting, I feel I have accomplished something great. We’ve got lots of exciting activities and games planned with the girls.”
Isabel, age 9, a member of the 1st Connaught Brownies said: “I enjoy Brownies as I like the games and meeting other girls I’ve never met before.”
