Update on the development of the Knowle West Regeneration Framework

Update on the development of the Knowle West Regeneration Framework – on behalf of Bristol City Council Knowle West Project Team

There have been a number of workshops, study tours, and consultation events with local people to inform the development of the Knowle West Regeneration Framework.

Good progress is being made on the ideas for the future of Knowle West. However, local residents and stakeholders, including the Knowle West Residents’ Planning Group have asked for an extension to the ongoing consultation process, to ensure that we get it right. It is important that we fully understand the outcome of the current Bus Rapid Transit consultation and other local studies and reviews before the final plan can be completed.

This extension will ensure that the best results are achieved so the regeneration plan can deliver the agreed Knowle West Vision developed by local people: “A community full of confidence and pride, skilled and healthy, living in a thriving Bristol neighbourhood that is green and well connected and low in living costs.

The final consultation events will now be held in October 2010. We would like to thank all of you who have been actively involved to date and  for sharing your views and ideas. On behalf of the Project Team at Bristol City Council, and on behalf of our consultants, Urban Initiatives, may we take the opportunity to wish you a very happy and a successful New Year!
