The Knowle West Residents’ Planning Group are a group of local residents, helped by people with specialist knowledge, who have been developing an area wide plan for the area covered by the Council’s Knowle West Regeneration Framework/Plan for the community and Council to consider.

 Since the autumn of 2008 we have been meeting to talk about and develop our proposals for jobs, community buildings, shops, transport, green spaces, schools and many other things that we believe will benefit the area.

We were able to get our Option (known as Option 2) into the Council’s Exhibition in October 2010, alongside the City Council’s options; and Option 2 was the most popular of the 5 options.

We then held an  Exhibition at the Mede Centre at the end of January 2011 on a updated Option 2 which has revised proposals for housing on the Novers Hill (Western) Slopes as well as in the Inns Court area.

Since January 2011 we have been discussing with the Council about how best to take Option 2 forward to a decision.

In July 2011 the Council announced that the demolition of houses in the Inns Court area suggested in some of Options shown in October 2010 would be dropped, which is in line with Option 2. In the same month the Council and its partners announced it will be deciding on the future of the updated Option 2 at the end of 2011.

At the moment we are trying to ensure that the update Option 2 and the agreed community objectives linked to this are taken forward as the plan for our future.

We now meet monthly – on the 2nd Tuesday of the Month – between 2pm and 4pm at the Filwood Social Centre, Barnstaple Road. All are welcome to attend.
