New Aldi store opens its doors at Imperial Park

The new Aldi store opened its doors today at Imperial Park at 8am this morning – with queues of customers outside and a packed car park.

Standing at 1,254 sqm of retail space, the Imperial Park store is the newest Aldi to open in Bristol and will be run by Store Manager, Tony Vanstechelman – along with a team of 40 colleagues from the local community.

Store Manager of Aldi Imperial Park, Tony Vanstechelman and staff ready to welcome customers this morning.

The new store includes large chillers and freezers dedicated to British meat products, a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store, as well as Specialbuys available on Thursdays and Sundays.

During opening week, the store will be offering a wide range of outdoor activities to keep the kids entertained.

Store Manager, Tony Vanstechelman, said: “It’s been a wonderful morning here at the opening of Aldi Imperial Park. It was lovely to welcome our new customers into the store and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks.

“I’d also like to thank our customers for following the social distancing guidelines we have in place to ensure the health and safety of both our customers and colleagues.”

Residents first had the chance to see plans for the development of the retail park, including the supermarket, in January 2017.

Knowle West Future – a campaigning organisation working to make the community thrive – had long been petitioning for a supermarket in the Filwood area – but the council said it was not viable.

The new Aldi store is located on Imperial Park, Bristol, BS13 7TJ and will be open Monday – Saturday: 8am – 10pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
