May Holiday Club and Street Party
We had a fantastic time at the Treasure Seekers Holiday Club, hosted by ElimKidz over May half-term with children from all over Knowle West helping us find the “Treasure of Greatest Worth”.
With games, songs, stories, craft and Aunty Pat’s now famous cupcakes everyone enjoyed themselves in spite of some days of poor weather. We even got to see some impressive Gangnam Style performances.
Thank you to all who helped out at the holiday club and also to those who took part and came to the free Family Fun Day on the 1st June. It was a great success with over 250 people coming and enjoying face painting, free barbecue, bouncy castle, coconut shy, sumo suits, football skills and of course the third annual Knowle West Kerby championship. Thanks as well go to E5 Church Bristol who generously paid for the event and provided such friendly volunteers. Also to Mel Carrol from Soul2Sole (with Nathan Watson) providing the music for the afternoon.
The whole day was great fun with everyone mucking in to make sure the kids all had a fab time. The free sweet raffle was one example where people who came along to the event were buying bags of sweets and then giving them as prizes for the free raffle. (Thank you to Mark the sweet man too).
ElimKidz runs every Sunday afternoon 3.15-4.30pm (Main hall at Filwood Community Centre) and is a chance for children (4-12 yr old) to come along and have fun, playing games, winning prizes, listening to stories, making friends and learning life lessons.
ElimSkillz runs alongside this at 3.30-4.30pm (Football Court opposite Christ the King church) and provides a fun environment for children of all ages to play football, try out new skills and meet new friends.
If you know any children that would enjoy either of these clubs then please bring them along to check it out or get in touch with Pete Millward (07854 906038 – firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
