A Knowle West marathon enthusiast has raised over two thousand pounds for charity by running the London Marathon. Chris Copeland was sponsored by friends and colleagues to compete in the annual event on 13th April – and ran the 26.5 mile course in three hours, 43 minutes and two seconds. He is still counting the sponsorship pledged but estimates he has raised just over £2,000 for the breast cancer campaign.
Chris (54) has been featured in the Knowledge in previous years for his fundraising efforts. He said: ‘I like going out running and keeping fit – and I’d like to thank everyone who donated’. He has been running since 2006 and has completed two London Marathons and eight Bristol Half Marathons, as well as competing in the Bristol 10k twice. He trains five times a week and is set to run the 2014 Bristol 10k on 11th May.
