Knowle West Media Centre opened its doors this weekend with tours of its straw bale eco building – and a toy workshop.
The charity based in Leinster Avenue was one of 70 organisations and buildings which took part in Bristol Open Doors on Saturday – and gave the public a behind-the-scenes peek of the work it does.
Youngsters were entertained by the Arts Team which showed them how to create new toys from old, broken and discarded ones. The Forgotten Toys Compendium is encouraging people to look in their lofts, sheds and garages for toys and games which can be re-used and re-purposed.
Danny Thomas who brought his son Darius (8) to the Media Centre said: “it’s been really engaging for the kids and it’s been really good to have the toys out so they can do something creative.”
This year’s Open Doors event was reported to be the most popular yet – with thousands turning out in the sunshine to view buildings across the city.
