New alcohol & drug peer-education group
HAWKS,
The Gatehouse

Do you live in South Bristol? Are you aged 14 – 19? Think you know about drink and drugs? Find out the truth, know your rights, build your confidence, then tell others about it!

We can train you to become a PEER EDUCATOR (telling other people about stuff, in this case drug and alcohol awareness). We are recruiting every 3 months.

We offer lots of incentives, including accreditation, creative activities, transport, and social events.  Be supported at whatever level, from leading a session, using their creative skills to develop a new game, to helping to organise our drug and alcohol information.

Contact Paul, Tracy or Carly at HAWKS, Unit 7, The Gatehouse Centre, Hareclive Rd, Hartcliffe. Tel: 0117 935 9321 or 964 2859 E-mail: peered@hawks1.org.uk

Mondays

Amazing Achive

Knowle West Media Centre has been awarded a grant from Young Roots Heritage Lottery Fund, to create a digital community archive. We run a group for young people (aged 13 – 20) at The Park, Daventry Road, on Mondays 4-5pm.They investigate their local history and will lead the archive project.

Sessions will run until summer 2008. Working in partnership with Bristol Museums and Records Office, the group will learn skills to research and record people’s stories of Knowle West’s history. The project will aim to dispel myths of Knowle West and challenge negative views of the area. It will culminate in an exhibition held at Bristol’s City Museum, showing highlights of the work created.

To get involved, contact Pippa Robinson 0117 3532745; archive@kwmc.org.uk
