Denise Britt Chairs Report
My name is Denise Britt, Chair of Community In Partnership (CiP) a local group based at Filwood Broadway that is involved with all aspects of work within the community.
Examples of this work;
The Liveability group deals with environmental issues
CIP have a local newsletter (THE KNOWLEDGE) that gets delivered to all households on the estate communicating what goes on within the area, keeping up to date with what others are doing.
Some of the things that we have done this year are-
Knowle West Regeneration Framework
A Residents’ Planning Group has been working hard keeping up with meetings with the consultants and council officers looking at future development of what our community could be like in the next 20 years. A huge amount of our time and commitment is needed.
I really would like to stress how important this work is and how it affects our future, come along and give us your ideas before its too late!
Taking over the responsibility of running Filwood Community Centre from Bristol City Council (BCC). A receptionist is there to welcome anyone using the centre.
The Hall is available to hire for events, weddings, christenings, birthday celebrations etc. There are also meeting rooms available for hire. Very competative rates!

49 Small Grants given to local groups across the estate helping small groups to achieve things they otherwise might not have done.
Examples –
- KWHP –massage couch enabling disabled and larger people to participate in healthy activities. Lunch Club sing along CD
- Filwood Fun-day, Hearts & Stars awards.
- Various sports activities including youth, adults, women’s football and girls netball teams.
- Buried Treasure -environmental work in the community
- The Park annual OAP Xmas party.
- KWHP & various OAP groups Xmas meals.
- Eagle House -30 children taken to theatre to watch pantomime.
a small sample of what small grants has helped local groups to achieve.
Street Reps are being re-launched in the community. Street Reps report environmental issues such as fly tipping, street lighting, abandoned vehicles etc. There are 33 active members; we would like every road to have a rep.
Events included a Talent Contest, Fun-day and the Hearts & Stars with local volunteers being recognised for their volunteer work in the community.
