Don’t forget to bring your mobile phones! You can register your interest in new Mobile Monday workshops: how to make the most out of your mobile phone.

This event will also give you the chance to find out about the Keeping in Touch project, which has been looking at how people can use their mobiles to strengthen their communities. We’ve been talking to people in Knowle West and further afield, looking for relevant ideas that are useful easy to try out. We will be sharing these ideas over the next few months. Come along and try something new!

Never sung in a choir before? Want to play in an instrumental group?

We welcome singers and players of all standards, including beginners, and those who have never sung in a choir before. We take our music-making seriously, but our concerts are for an audience of ourselves only!

Wednesday evenings, October to May

7.30pm: Instrumental Groups. 8.45pm: Choir.

Job Vacancy at Knowle West Media Centre

Job Vacancy: Finance & Front of House Assistant
Location: Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC)

Salary: £15,606 pro rata

Job type: Maternity Cover

Knowle West Media Centre is looking to employ a part-time Finance and Front of House Assistant (18 hours per week) to pay suppliers, invoice customers and input data to Quickbooks, and be an integral member of the Front of House administration team.

Times of work to be agreed. You must be computer literate, numerate and have good communication skills. You should have previous experience of finance work, preferably using Quickbooks, but training will be provided as necessary.

University of Local Knowledge (ULK) Drop-In Day

Following the screening of University of Local Knowledge (ULK) films last month – when the studio at Knowle West Media Centre was full! – the ULK team are hosting a drop-in day for all ULK contributors on Friday 29th July, 10am-5pm.

Pop into the training rooms at Knowle West Media Centre, on Leinster Avenue, to watch your film and others produced as part of the project. Whether you’re a ULK contributor and you’ve not yet seen your film, you’d like to watch it again, or you simply want to find out more about the project, come along to KWMC. They’d love to see you!

Walking Tour to celebrate our green spaces

Bristol’s Big Day Out, Friday 24th June

Meet at 10am, Knowle West Media Centre, Leinster Avenue

Filwood Park

Join us for a fun, free walk around the green spaces of Knowle West, to celebrate Civic Society Day.

On Friday 24th June we invite you to come for a ramble and take a fresh look at our community, remembering that it isn’t just brick after brick of houses and streets – it has some beautiful green spots too!

We will photograph the locations on our mobile phones and later upload them to an online map. The walk will be led by resident Karron Chaplin. Karron is involved in the Happy Hearts Walking Group, who are always pleased to welcome new members.

The walk will last approximately 1.5 hours, taking in the Northern Slopes, Filwood Fields, Black Path, Knowle West Health Park and many more of our delightful green spaces. Please wear appropriate footwear and bring water and a hat.
