Information regarding the Knowle West Regeneration Plan

Dear all

We are contacting you to update you with important information regarding  the Knowle West Regeneration Plan.

Bristol City Council and consultants Urban Initiatives has been developing regeneration plans for Knowle West since the previous round of consultation during November 2009 (called the Knowle West Regeneration Framework).

The Council will be consulting again with local residents on these Regeneration Plans during October 2010 so that future improvements to Knowle West can be agreed. These 20-year regeneration plans could help unlock up to £500 million in local investment to bring improvements and benefits to local people…

Knowle West Futures Exhibition video booth

As part of the Knowle West Futures Exhibition in September, at the Filwood Funday, a video booth was run by the Knowle West Media Centre. Local people could come in and say what they think about the future of Knowle West – see and hear local people’s opinions.

Regeneration project update

The project team is now working with local stakeholders to agree next steps. A number of people have raised concerns about the need for the outcome of the current Bus Rapid Transit consultation and other studies / reviews to conclude before the framework is finalised, as they may have a significant impact. As a result the project team is giving consideration to allowing more time, including further possible public consultation. More details to follow.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be coming to Bristol

As you may know Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will be coming to Bristol. BRT is a rapid, reliable, frequent and punctual form of public transport that will link existing housing with business, tackle current congestion and help to encourage investment into the area. Some early ideas of the BRT were presented during Knowle West Conversations. There is a consultation event on Monday 7th December at the Knowle West Media Centre from 9am to 7pm in the Exhibition Studio. View the ‘North Fringe to Hengrove Package‘ flyer for more details and make sure you come and have your say!

Conversation results

[Posted On Behalf Of Urban Initiatives]

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to all that made time to come along to the exhibitions and welcomed us at their meetings, clubs and gatherings.

We met over 400 local people during the KW Conversations and we are still meeting young people at the local schools and clubs. We will prepare a summary report on all of your feedback, comments and ideas. At this point, we would like to show you the results of the ‘Traffic Lights’ used at the exhibitions to capture whether or not you think we are moving in the right direction.

Please provide us with your comments on proposals and results by the 11th December, 2009.

Many thanks!
