Minor revisions include:

turning the office building to ensure the park and junior playing pitch has improved overlooking

re-configuring the residential block fronting onto Hengrove Way to take on board design feedback and increase of family home

re-siting the young person shelter and children’s play equipment to reflect feedback from community and officers

realignment of path through park to improve connectivity

inclusion of bike tracks within open space.

There is no change to the housing numbers proposed for the development.

It is therefore an important public record of the event and the principles of the plan will be incorporated into the planning application to be submitted by the Homes and Communities Agency.

Posted by Council officers at the request of Knowle West Residents’ Planning Group

The Knowle West Residents’ Planning Group (KWRPG) met for a positive meeting on Tuesday 8th November. Councillor officers also attended. Key points covered:

The Council’s City Design Group and local people are progressing well with the ideas for Filwood Broadway. There has been local resident representation at: a meeting with Council Transport officers, and a session with GVA Grimley to look at the feasibility of the supermarket.

The residents’ were pleased to hear how the Homes and Communities Agency, heading up the Filwood Park project, and the Council’s City Design Group (leading the Filwood Broadway project) are liaising well. Ideas for Filwood Broadway will be presented at the Filwood Park Enquiry By Design session mid November.

The Novers Park Drive site is being progressed as potential housing site for 14 dwellings. Owners of the site, Somer Housing, are keen to attend a KWRPG meeting to hear the thoughts of local residents.

The quality of proposed developments the Creswick Rd sites, being developed by Knightstone Housing Association, improved as a result of input from council officers.

It was reported that Barratt Homes are interested the site towards the bottom of Novers Hill (between Hartcliffe Way & Novers Hill).

Planters (people) are needed for ‘National Tree Week’, which is open to anyone who lives in Filwood that has a front garden – contact Mil Lusk for more details.

The Knowle West Plan showed that local people wanted Filwood Broadway to be their main shopping centre. Together, residents and Council Officers have come up with some exciting ideas to regenerate the Broadway as a thriving place for local people. There will be ideas about: the location for a supermarket, housing, shops and jobs, public areas – (e.g. street furniture, parking and lighting), play and green spaces and community facilities.

Bristol City Council wants to hear more local views to help decide future plans. So, do play your part in making a better Broadway and see the ideas at Filwood Library (Filwood Broadway):

The main event is Thursday 20th October. Drop-in between 10am – 8pm and the team will explain the ideas to you.

Or see the exhibition from Friday 21st October until Saturday 29th October. Open Monday to Friday (9.30am –1pm and 2pm –5pm) and Saturdays (9:30am –1pm). Closed Thursdays and Sundays.

Your views and ideas will be considered when the draft formal document is produced outlining the plans for the future Filwood Broadway. For more info, visit www.bristol.gov.uk/kwrf

Dear all

We are contacting you to update you with important information regarding the Knowle West Regeneration Plan.

Bristol City Council and consultants Urban Initiatives has been developing regeneration plans for Knowle West since the previous round of consultation during November 2009 (called the Knowle West Regeneration Framework).

The Council will be consulting again with local residents on these Regeneration Plans during October 2010 so that future improvements to Knowle West can be agreed. These 20-year regeneration plans could help unlock up to £500 million in local investment to bring improvements and benefits to local people…

The Councils plans show a number of different options for Knowle West, varying from do nothing through to highest investment and change. All the Council options except the do nothing one involves some replacement of homes. In the lower investment and change options less homes will be replaced than in the higher investment and change options. If residents’ homes are to be replaced they will get compensation and help with new homes.

The Knowle West Residents Planning Group, representing local residents, has also been active in helping develop ideas and proposals, which will also be consulted upon as part of the October public consultation.

As the consultation is fast approaching we’d like to make you aware of how Bristol City Council are informing the local residents:

- In order to talk with those residents more likely to be affected by the plans, we are running special drop in sessions on 4th – 6th Oct and before the main consultation. These residents have been sent the attached letter invite.

- Council officers will also be knocking on these residents door w/c 27th Sep to remind people of these special drop in sessions.

- With the next week, all households, businesses and community facilities in Knowle West will be receiving a copy of the eight page information leaflet about the Regeneration Plan. Plus details of how to take part: the main consultation events are Wed 13th – Sat 16th Oct, plus Mon 18th Oct at various locations in Knowle West.

Please also visit www.bristol.gov.uk/kwrf for further information or contact the Knowle West Regeneration Helpline on 0117 922 3963.

Many thanks

A number of people have raised concerns about the need for the outcome of the current Bus Rapid Transit consultation and other studies / reviews to conclude before the framework is finalised, as they may have a significant impact. As a result the project team is giving consideration to allowing more time, including further possible public consultation. More details to follow.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to all that made time to come along to the exhibitions and welcomed us at their meetings, clubs and gatherings.

We met over 400 local people during the KW Conversations and we are still meeting young people at the local schools and clubs. We will prepare a summary report on all of your feedback, comments and ideas. At this point, we would like to show you the results of the ‘Traffic Lights’ used at the exhibitions to capture whether or not you think we are moving in the right direction.

Please provide us with your comments on proposals and results by the 11th December, 2009.

Many thanks!
