Need a bike?

Life Cycle will be holding its second big bike sale in Bristol on Wed, 20th April.

Life Cycle staff and volunteers will be in the  City Centre (by fountains, opposite the Hippodrome) from 8.30am.

We will have bikes for people of all ages and heights. Children’s bikes start at £10 and adult bikes are priced between £40 -£100.
Bikes are intended to help those on lower incomes to get cycling.

All the bikes are second-hand and have been refurbished in Bristol Prison.  The scheme aims to provide prisoners with interesting work whilst also teaching them useful skills.  Bikes are fixed by prisoners under supervision and then checked over by a Cytech qualified mechanic before being sold.

~Better still – anyone who buys a bike will be entitled to a £5 discount on one of our bike maintenance courses.

Got a bike you no longer want?

We will also be collecting unwanted bikes. If you have a bike in your shed you don’t want, please bring it to the City Centre and we’ll happily take it off your hands.  Alternatively, you can drop it off at The CREATE Centre, 9-5 weekdays or 10 –4 on Saturdays.

Many thanks for contributing to the recent consultation on our Parks and Green Spaces Strategy. There has been a record number of responses – more than 3,000, not including people who signed petitions or attending drop-in sessions. Your input is very much welcomed and I can assure you that the points you raise are being carefully considered.

I wanted to update on the next steps. Officers have worked through the consultation responses and drawn up final proposals. These will be discussed firstly at an extraordinary meeting of the council’s Quality of Life Scrutiny Commission that will be held at the Council House on Wednesday 15 December (10am).

This replaces the scheduled discussion that was planned for Monday December 6. The change in date allowed officers more time to work up their final proposals following the huge level of public interest.
On the following day – Thursday December 16 at 4pm – the Council’s Cabinet will meet as planned to decide on the final plans.

Members of the public will be able to attend both meetings, make public statements in the usual way or watch proceedings on the webcast through the council’s website – www.bristol.gov.uk/webcast.
